#2500crunches – DONE
2500 crunches in 10 days seemed like a rather reasonable proposition. 250 crunches/day sounded challenging but totally doable, even for an ab-less Clydesdale like myself. But like so much that goes on with training and life, nothing ever quite goes as planned. 3 days into the challenge I found myself grossly behind the curve, having only banged out 100-150/day. Suddenly that 250/day average was looking more like 400-450/day. I also wanted a day off before Escape From Alcatraz, so I was looking at 9 days to get it done instead of 10.
For the remainder of the challenge, I decided to break the day’s crunches into several sets, spread out across the day. 150 in the morning, another 150 at lunch, and whatever I could manage towards the end of the day. My abs were as sore as they’ve been in a long time around day 5, but it started to get easier as we closed in on the deadline. By days 8 and 9 I was doing close to 600 crunches/day with relative ease. Its crazy how quickly the body can adapt! I finished with 2625, completing the #2500crunches challenge with one day to spare. Several people, including Holly and Elizabeth, reached the 5000 mark. Holy crap!

Next up? Emily and Holly have cooked up the #missionpossible Pound Challenge. A short but challenging core/strength workout is sent to us every morning that is about 10-15 minutes long. We have till 9 pm to complete it. Simple concept, right? But as Day 1 proved, even 10-15 minutes of training can be tough to do if you don’t plan ahead. Caught up in work, I found the day slipping by and the 9 pm deadline looming. I finally forced myself to take a break, and this little workout was the perfect way to step away from my desk/console for a second. Here’s what Day’s 1 and 2 look like:
#missionpossible - Day 1
#missionpossible - Day 2
Like I said, challenging……but that’s the point of a challenge, right? If you’d like to participate in this or future Pound Challenges, e-mail Emily or Holly at poundchallenges@gmail.com!
Sounds challenging! Had I known about the crunches challenge I would have done it with you guys. Maybe I can do it one day on my own.
Holly and Emily are doing a different challenge every week! Check out Emily’s blog at http://www.goingforgoofy.com for info. You should join the next one dude! They are completely ass-kicking in a good way.
Cool man! I will do this. It’s hard deciding on what to do for my workouts for the day. I try to do a quick 5-10 minute workout every hour at the office.
